Life Events
Our journey through life is filled with wonder, challenges, extreme highs and lows, special moments and memories. Some of the most special moments and memories are those times when we welcome new life or say goodbye to loved ones, and when we make solemn commitments in marriage and baptism.
It is our privilege to journey with you at these significant times in life.
Baptisms and Thanksgivings
Baptism (also known as Christening) is an important marker on the journey of faith. Baptisms always happen within the worship on a Sunday morning.
MoreBeing confirmed in Beccles Parish
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus. We have an annual confirmation course in the parish, do speak to the clergy if you are interested in confirming your faith.
MoreGetting married in Beccles Parish
Firstly, if you’re considering getting married in one of our churches, congratulations!
Weddings can take place at St Michael’s and St Luke’s in Beccles, All Saints Worlingham, St Botolph North Cove and St John the Baptist Barnby. There are, however, qualifying connections that you must meet if you would like to marry in a Church of England Church. You can find them here.
MoreAt life's end
Funerals can be a really difficult time as we mark the end of a life of someone we love. Funerals are an opportunity to thank God for our loved one, to share memories, and to express grief.
Our clergy are available to take funerals in our churches or in the crematorium. Funerals and burials of ashes are usually organised through the funeral directors in the first instance.
