Parish Pantry
Against the background of increasing financial pressures over recent years, Beccles Parish has for some time provided a Parish Pantry. The Parish Panty provides food and essential items, such as toiletries and sanitary products, to people who suffer from food insecurity. There are no qualifying criteria, and unlike many foodbanks, users do not need referrals from any agencies.
We recognise that having to accept generosity from others is sometimes seen as degrading. Therefore, to promote our customers’ dignity and prevent the shame associated with food bank use, customers are asked to pay a small fee and are then able to fill a shopping basket themselves from a range of items they need.
The Parish Pantry is open every Saturday morning at St Luke’s Church Centre.
